Support Groups for Relationships

Why did I decide to open support groups for people suffering in toxic relationships?

Because I personally experienced it, many times in my life, and especially during my marriage. It took me a long time to process what I had been through and to understand why I had specifically chosen harmful relationships. I went through a long healing process, and now I view it as my mission to help others leave toxic relationships and to get back on their feet.

Why Should You Join a Support Group?

Generally, when people suffer from a problem or are in distress, they tend to be embarrassed by it, deny it, and close themselves off. They think they are the only ones with the problem, and they don’t want other people to know about it. They fear criticism and others' reactions, and how their problem will affect their image, as well as the image of their families and children. They fear being abandoned, they are scared to tear apart their families, they are disappointed in themselves, and it is difficult for them to deal with the feeling of failure in their relationship. They tend to think that those around them will judge them and criticize them, rather than support them (because they have lost touch with reality). It’s important to know that only about one percent of the world’s population is diagnosed with Narcissistic personality disorder and that most people are empathetic, compassionate, and want to help others.

Don’t be afraid to share your situation with others. You will be surprised to discover that most people will extend a helping hand.

Support Groups Have Many Advantages Over Private Sessions

In a support group, you meet many people who are in a similar situation to you. You receive reinforcement from fellow peers in the group and then the feeling of being alone with your problem begins to ebb away. You will meet others who you understand and that understand you. Additionally, hearing other’s stories puts things into perspective. Furthermore, you can share advice and wisdom, as well as learn professional skills from me. Lastly, support groups are significantly cheaper than private sessions.
