Ever since I started using Google Calendar to manage my schedule, my life has changed completely. I am self-employed and I schedule my daily schedule, and it is not easy. There are so many things that need to be taken into consideration and added to the schedule. It’s like running a household, therefore many people are essentially managing two businesses simultaneously, and the need for effective time management becomes even more important for them. You need a lot of self-discipline, determination, perseverance, focus (not to get distracted easily), and willingness. In a world where we spend most of our time in front of screens, on Zoom, and social networks, it becomes increasingly easier to lose focus and get lost. Therefore, my weekly calendar keeps me in line. Once I have set my calendar for the week, I stick to it like glue (except for the unexpected), and everything becomes much easier and clearer in regards to what I’m doing and when.
A useful thing I do to make things easier for me is that I divide my tasks into “blocks” of similar workload. For example, if I have dedicated time to write a post, I will set aside more time and write more posts because once I am already in the post writing “zone”, it saves time and energy being more productive when I’m already in the relevant “zone”. I write posts for the whole week that are posted in my Empowerment and Inspiration Groups, and I set the posts so that they are automatically published each day so that I do not have to deal with this every day. I make two lists: A list of tasks that I do each week and place them in the calendar. A list of specific tasks for the coming week and I prioritize them and then put them in the calendar. By doing this, I start each week with a readymade Google calendar. You are welcome to watch my video where I give additional tips on effective time management.
